Melissa Clough

Strategy Officer

Melissa specializes in forging partnerships between local and international governments, corporations, universities, community groups and SMEs within diverse sports environments. Her professional journey began as a hands-on sport physiologist at the Australian Institute of Sport, collaborating closely with elite athletes and coaches.

After earning her MBA, Melissa transitioned to managing business aspects of national research programs in sport science and sports medicine. She played a pivotal role in commercializing sport innovations and was a founding board member of a successful wearable technology startup, now Catapult Sports.

One of her notable achievements was leading the transition of the Australian Sports Outreach Program in India from an Australian government aid initiative to a trade-focused endeavor. In this role, she orchestrated partnerships and identified mutually beneficial community sports projects while also leveraging sport as a tool for diplomacy between the two nations.

From the age of 3 Melissa’s childhood physical education was focused on dance. Ballet consumed the spare hours outside of school. School sport was also on offer and she took part in running and swimming events wherever possible and enjoyed joining her father on community fun runs from time to time.
